In Memory of State Trooper James Sauter

The Board of Directors and membership of the 100 Club of Chicago extend their condolences to the family of

State Trooper James Sauter
Illinois State Police

On March 28, 2013, James Sauter, 28, was on duty in his squad car when it was struck by a semi shortly after 11 p.m.  Both vehicles burst into flames and Sauter was pronounced dead at the scene.  Sauter left behind his wife Elizabeth, parents, a brother and many more loving family and friends.

CEO Joe Ahern and COO Heather Sattler joined Illinois State Police Director Hiram Grau and Illinois State Police Lieutenant Colonel Terry Lemming to visit the family.  Heather and Joe went to the Sauter home to share our deepest condolences and gratitude and to present the family with the first installment of a $50,000 gift to help with the family’s expenses.

Watch coverage by ABC7 and hear Joe Ahern’s reflections.
