The Board of Directors and membership of the 100 Club of Chicago extend their condolences to the family of:
Officer James P. Morrissy
Oak Forest Police Department
Officer Jim Morrissy, 63, of the 15000 block of Laramie Avenue in Oak Forest, was pronounced dead at 8:01 p.m. Monday, March 17, at Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn. Morrissy was with the department for 34 years. He is survived by his wife and three sons.
Earlier Monday, Morrissy was assisting another officer with a domestic situation at 160th and Cicero around 2:15 p.m. Preliminary investigation shows he was attempting to turn left off of 160th Street onto Cicero Avenue when a vehicle traveling south on Cicero Avenue struck the squad car in the driver’s side. Morrissy was pinned in the vehicle. He was taken to Christ Hospital and was in serious to critical condition and later succumbed to his injuries. The other driver suffered minor injuries.
CEO Joe Ahern and Chairman of the Board Tom Cashman will join Oak Forest Police Chief Greg Anderson to visit the family. Tom and Joe will go to the Morrissy home to share our deepest condolences and gratitude and to present the family with the first installment of a $50,000 gift to help with the family’s expenses.
